Gray BALMER

Gray has been designing and making furniture since the early 1990′s.

Gray is the Senior Tutor at Melbourne School of Fine Woodworking. Beginning in 1993, he has been teaching furniture design/making, wood finishing, router techniques, tool sharpening and plane tuning, with 9 years at Coles School of Woodcraft and since 2002 at Melbourne School of Fine Woodworking.

Bruce MOONIE

  • Tutor Group Tutor (Wed mornings)

Bruce has been designing and making furniture pieces to commission since 1992 for private clients, architectural projects and commercial jobs.

He has taught in secondary schools (1991/1992), lectured in furniture studies at the University of Melbourne (1993-1997) and since 2001 has taught part-time at RMIT University’s School of Architecture & Design.

Bruce taught at Coles School of Woodcraft for 5 years and since 2002 at Melbourne School of Fine Woodworking.

Ben HODGETTS

  • Furniture Restoration Tutor

Ben has 28 years experience in restoring quality furniture for museums and private collections in Australia and England.

Ben has taught furniture restoration for 9 years at Coles School of Woodcraft and since 2002 at Melbourne School of Fine Woodworking.

Andrew GIBBS

  • Tutor Group Tutor (Tue & Thu mornings)

Andrew has been designing and making furniture and cabinetry since 1996.

He also designs street and park furniture for manufacturers, councils and landscape architects.

Andrew has been teaching furniture design and making since 1998. He taught at Coles School of Woodcraft for 6 years and since 2002 at Melbourne School of Fine Woodworking.

Carl LUTZ

  • Tutor Group Tutor (Fri evenings)

Carl has been designing and making furniture since the 1960′s.

Apart from being a furniture designer/maker, Carl is also a highly skilled wood carver, french polisher and wood turner.

Carl has over 25 years teaching experience and has been with Melbourne School of Fine Woodworking since 2002.

Remy TRAMOY

  • Box Making Tutor

Remy has been designing and making furniture since 2008 and has worked in the woodworking field since 1999.

He has a Masters in Joinery & Furniture Making. He has travelled and lived in various regions of France, Germany and Switzerland learning the traditional techniques of each area.

Remy joined Melbourne School of Fine Woodworking in 2013.
