Dovetails with Dom, Hand Cut

Dovetails are an elegant and extremely functional joint that has been fundamental to woodworking throughout the ages. Cutting dovetails accurately and efficiently is a skill that every woodworker should have in their repertoire.

In this class you will learn how to cut various types of dovetails using hand tools. No routers here! The class assumes no prior experience or knowledge and starts from the basics, covering everything you need to know to develop mastery of this joint.

The class will cover:

• Standard, Half-Blind Dovetails as well as touching on several variations
• Overview and selection of Tools
• Design Considerations
• Fundamental Skill Building
• Specific Tips, Tricks & Techniques

Participants will have an opportunity to cut various types of dovetails and will leave with an overall understanding of dovetail design considerations, tools, processes and techniques. One is unlikely to become an expert dovetailer in one session, however you will leave with the knowledge, confidence and exercises that will allow you to master this joint.
